From parent and child classes to family swim to time together in the gym, the McBurney Y offers programs that bring your family together and keep you moving. PARENT & CHILD CLASSES Let's Get Ready Ages 18 months-2.5 years This program offers a rich and supportive learning environment for toddlers. Social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth is fostered through a balanced, developmentally based program. Participants are involved in circle time, group activities including songs playing instruments, parachute play, puppets, bubbles and group games. Caregivers are required to stay in the facility for the duration of the classes. Register Ready, Set, Math & Read Ages 2.5-5.5 This program gives participants the opportunity to set the stage for success in school and in life. Ready, Set, Math & Read is a content-rich program that supports active learning and promotes children’s progress in all developmental areas. Children learn best when they are actively involved in learning projects. Learning projects include creating a classroom garden and their own story books. Caregivers are required to stay in the facility for the duration of the classes. Register Ready, Set, Science Ages 2.5-5 Let your child explore the natural world through science experiments and nature based learning projects. This class will get your child excited about learning while developing their social skills in a classroom setting It’s never too early to raise consciousness about environmental issues. Caregivers are required to stay in the facility for the duration of the classes. Register FAMILY TIME Family Sundays at McBurney Sunday is Family Day for McBurney members! Our Youth & Family staff have a ton of fun planned for your family, and Family Swim is available from 11:30 am to 4 pm!* Please view our latest facility schedules to view all Open Gym and Family Swim times. Family Time Playing together, whatever the weather! Join us each week in Gym B as our space transforms into an indoor playground complete with mini-hoops, push toys, and a bouncy house. Y staff will have great crafts and engaging activities for the whole family. Sundays, 3-4:30 PM Family Basketball Basketball for all! Shoot around in Gym B with friends and family during our specially designated Family Basketball time. Sundays, 5-7 PM *Bathing caps and appropriate swimming attire are required in the pool at all times. Swim diapers are required for individuals who wear diapers. Children age 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult within arms reach during swim time. Children ages 9-11 must have an adult on the pool deck or in the viewing area while swimming. Bubbles/backpacks, noodles, and lifejackets (PFDs) are provided for use. Inflatable swim aids are not permitted in the McBurney pool. Non-swimmers and anyone wearing flotation equipment must remain in the shallow area while swimming.
