Pricing reflects the cost for one eight-week session of programming. To sign up for an afterschool class, please complete the following: 1. You must first register either in person or online: In Person: Download the Registration Form. Fill out the form with your selected class and submit to the branch in person or email to Lucas Welch at mcburneyyas@ymcanyc.org . Registration Form Online: Click on the links within each class description below, which takes you to our register site. 2. You must then submit the online Enrollment Form. Enrollment Form 3. Lastly, submit your child’s annual medical form stamped & signed by a physician to the branch in person or email to Lucas Welch at mcburneyyas@ymcanyc.org. Basketball (Grades 1 – 5) Learn the necessary skills to take your game to the next level. Learn how to play defense and command your offense through passing dribbling and shooting drills that will make you a true player. Individual assessments will take place on the first day of class. This class is appropriate for beginner to intermediate players. This class is not offered for the Fall 2023 Session. Ballet (Grades K – 5) Introductory theatre course for beginners to build confidence, vocabulary and skills for theatre making. Low pressure and lots of fun! This class is not offered for the Fall 2023 Session. Spanish Explorers (Grades K – 4) This class is designed to develop listening, speaking, writing and reading Spanish skills. This class is intended for children with no prior knowledge of Spanish. The children will learn the fundamental structures of the language and culture by engaging in brief conversations and in a variety of Oral/Aural activities. This class is not offered for the Fall 2023 Session. LEGO Robotics/ Coding (Grades K - 5) Design, build, and program independent robots using LEGO® Mindstorms® equipment and software. Participants will explore their creativity while developing problem-solving, cooperative learning and STEM skills. Tuesday | 3:00 – 6:00 pm Y-Members: $495 | Community: $550 Register for LEGO Robotics Karate (Grades K – 5) Karate develops physical conditioning, mental awareness and self-defense strategies. Students will learn to develop speed, power, focus, and balance. This class is not offered for the Fall 2023 Session. Isadora Duncan Beginner (Grades K – 5) Free flowing art form perfect for all ages. The class begins with floor warm-ups and progresses to ballet barre with flow and dance combinations. This class is not offered for the Fall 2023 Session. Swimming (Grades K – 5) Calling all swimmers and non-swimmers too! Y Afterschool Swim is great for children of any swim level! Y Afterschool staff will escort participants to the McBurney YMCA, where our trained Aquatics instructors will provide structured swimming lessons in our pool. Students are not only taught swimming skills but gain confidence that will encourage them to remain swimmers for the rest of their lives. Students will be evaluated and placed into groups based on their abilities. Bubbles can be provided. Students to provide their own swim caps.
